Romuald Wadagni’s working visit to Lomé underscores Benin-Togo bilateral ties
This week, the President of Benin, Romuald Wadagni, embarked on an official working visit to Lomé, signaling a renewed commitment to deepening cooperation between Benin and Togo.
Upon his arrival in the Togolese capital, President Wadagni was formally received by the President of the Togolese Council, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé. The meeting focused on high-level discussions centered around shared challenges in development, regional integration, and sub-regional stability.
The visit aligns with President Wadagni’s ongoing regional tour since his inauguration on May 24, highlighting Lomé’s pivotal role as a hub for political dialogue and diplomatic engagement in West Africa.
A grand welcome ceremony was organized at the Gnassingbé Eyadéma International Airport in Lomé, drawing prominent figures including government officials, parliamentarians, and traditional leaders from the Greater Lomé area.
The visit is more than a ceremonial gesture—it reflects the mutual determination of both nations to strengthen collaboration across key sectors such as trade, infrastructure, security, energy, and the free movement of people and goods.
Bound by history, geography, and shared aspirations, Benin and Togo continue to advance their partnership, driving regional development and integration forward.
United by proximity, kinship, and strengthened dialogue at the highest level.
