United Kingdom seeks strategic partnership, aims to double trade with Morocco
The recent visit to Rabat by Chris Bryant, the British Minister of State for International Trade, has significantly advanced the relationship between the United Kingdom and the Kingdom of Morocco, solidifying intentions for a strategic partnership.
The United Kingdom views Morocco as a land brimming with opportunities and is committed to doubling its trade volume with the Kingdom within the next five to seven years. This ambitious goal was articulated by Chris Bryant during his time in Rabat.
Following productive discussions with Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Mr. Bryant highlighted that current trade exchanges between the two nations stand at approximately £4.5 billion. He reiterated the UK’s strong desire to see this figure double in the coming years.
The British Minister of State also conveyed the United Kingdom’s eagerness to collaborate with Morocco as a strategic partner in ensuring the successful hosting of major sporting events, notably the 2030 World Cup. Mr. Bryant’s official visit to Morocco, which includes his participation in the Morocco-British Business Forum held on June 2 and 3, 2026, saw him accompanied by a delegation of approximately fifty companies specializing in the organization of large-scale international sporting events.
Furthermore, the two nations are scheduled to convene the fourth session of the Morocco-United Kingdom Association Council, further cementing their deepening bilateral ties.
