Former Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko has issued pointed warnings to the newly appointed Premier, Al Aminou Lo, in response to recent statements. Amidst escalating political tensions, Sonko pressed Lo to adhere to his technocratic role and alluded to previously unrevealed details concerning their interactions.
Addressing the press this Tuesday, Ousmane Sonko openly conveyed his displeasure regarding certain pronouncements made by his successor, delivering several thinly veiled admonitions.
The former head of government began by advising the new Prime Minister to maintain his established professional focus. « I counsel him to restrict himself to figures. He claims to be a technocrat; he should simply stick to technocracy, » Sonko asserted.
Warning regarding political tensions
Ousmane Sonko continued by alleging that the new occupant of the Prime Ministry played a specific role in the discord that has strained relations between the Pastef party and the President of the Republic. « We are aware of the part he played in these issues affecting Pastef and the President. Until now, we have refrained from disclosing all the specifics. He should exercise restraint, » Sonko cautioned.
The Pastef leader also reflected on the new Prime Minister’s demeanor during the announcement of the governmental cabinet. « I heard him yesterday, during the government’s publication, attempting to lecture others. He should start by applying those lessons to himself, » Sonko declared.
In a notably firm tone, Ousmane Sonko ultimately suggested that he possesses information yet to be publicly disclosed. « We know everything. We have chosen to keep certain facts confidential, but we should not be provoked, » he concluded.
