The United Nations Security Council has issued a strong condemnation of the heinous terrorist assaults carried out by jihadist groups linked to Al-Qaeda in Mali. These attacks, which have plagued the nation since April 25, demand that all individuals responsible be brought to justice.
In a formal statement released on Friday, the Council emphasized the critical need to hold accountable not only the direct perpetrators but also the organizers, financiers, and masterminds behind these acts of terror.
Mali is currently experiencing a period of significant uncertainty, triggered by unprecedented attacks against key positions held by the ruling junta, which assumed power in 2020. These coordinated offensives, occurring on April 25 and 26, targeted vital strategic cities and tragically led to the death of the nation’s Defense Minister.
