Côte d’Ivoire honors CNTIG chief for geospatial leadership in digital economy
Abidjan – The director-general of Côte d’Ivoire’s National Geospatial and Remote Sensing Committee (CNTIG), Dr. Edouard Fonh-Gbéi, was honored this week during a high-profile awards ceremony held in the capital.
On Thursday evening in Abidjan, Dr. Fonh-Gbéi accepted a prestigious recognition at the annual Bâtisseurs de l’économie africaine gala, an event that celebrates outstanding contributions to African business and innovation. The award underscores his role in positioning the CNTIG as a key driver of geospatial technology adoption across Côte d’Ivoire’s public and private sectors.
In remarks following the ceremony, Dr. Fonh-Gbéi emphasized that the honor reflects not just individual achievement, but the collective effort of a dedicated team. “This recognition belongs to every colleague at CNTIG whose daily commitment turns vision into reality,” he stated. “It is also a call to deepen our impact, raise our standards, and build even greater value for our nation.”
With a career spanning over two decades in satellite geodesy and civil engineering, Dr. Fonh-Gbéi brings international expertise to his leadership of the CNTIG. Appointed in 2012 through a competitive global recruitment process, he has overseen the agency’s transformation into a central pillar of Côte d’Ivoire’s digital infrastructure. Under his guidance, CNTIG has become a national leader in geospatial data integration, land management, and smart-city planning.
The Bâtisseurs de l’économie africaine forum, established in 2006, is recognized across the continent for honoring excellence in entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainable business practices. The platform highlights role models whose work helps shape Africa’s economic future.
