Motion of no confidence: Ousmane Sonko prepared to unseat Al Aminou Lo’s government

Ousmane Sonko has issued a stern warning, threatening to file a motion of no confidence against the government during a recent gathering in Touba. The leader of PASTEF unequivocally stated that his party is prepared to utilize this parliamentary mechanism to challenge practices he deems unacceptable.
During a meeting held yesterday in Touba, as part of PASTEF’s 48-hour event, Ousmane Sonko explicitly raised the possibility of a motion of no confidence targeting the government led by Prime Minister Al Aminou Lo. The prominent PASTEF figure cautioned that his political movement would not hesitate to invoke this parliamentary tool if it perceives a continuation of current governmental directions.
“We will deploy every legal instrument at our disposal, including the motion of no confidence, to bring down the government, and we will do so as many times as necessary,” Ousmane Sonko declared to his party’s supporters. The president of PASTEF justified this stance by asserting that his political organization cannot tolerate practices that contradict the fundamental principles for which its members have tirelessly fought.
“We have struggled for a decade, enduring sacrifices and even martyrs. We will not allow such practices to take root,” he emphasized. Through this powerful statement, Ousmane Sonko positions the motion of no confidence as a central element of his party’s political strategy against the government. He views this parliamentary recourse as a legitimate means to oppose decisions he disapproves of, affirming PASTEF’s readiness to employ it whenever circumstances demand.
