Niamey, July 27, 2026 – High-level consultations within the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) continued on the sidelines of events marking the third anniversary of Niger’s National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland (CNSP). On Monday, General Mohamed Toumba, Niger’s Minister of State for Interior, Public Security and Territorial Administration, received Bassolma Bazié, President of Burkina Faso’s national commission for the AES Confederation.
Bazié, in Niamey to attend commemorative activities, paid a courtesy visit to the Interior Ministry. The meeting provided both officials an opportunity to review pressing issues facing AES member states and explore avenues for deeper collaboration.
Intensifying regional security efforts and joint initiatives
During their discussions, Bazié commended Niger’s proactive measures in bolstering security, emphasizing the country’s commitment to protecting its citizens and reinforcing stability both domestically and across the confederation’s shared borders.
