Ouagadougou witnessed a night of celebration on June 6, 2026, as the fourth edition of the Mousso d’Or honored exceptional Burkinabè women whose dedication and leadership drive the nation’s progress. The event, dedicated to recognizing female achievements, brought together trailblazers from diverse sectors who are shaping Burkina Faso’s future.
The evening’s highlight was the crowning of Salmata Sawadogo, Chief Executive Officer of Salmata Commerce Général, as the prestigious Mousso d’Or 2026 laureate. Her selection honors not only her entrepreneurial success but also her relentless efforts in empowering women economically.

In her acceptance speech, Sawadogo expressed deep gratitude to the organizers and all those who supported her journey. For her, this recognition is a call to intensify her mission and inspire more women to embrace entrepreneurship with confidence.
The ceremony also recognized excellence across multiple fields. Talato Ouédraogo claimed the coveted Pépite d’Or award, while the Wend Guetta association earned top honors in the Association category. Other standout laureates included Charlotte Milliogo (Sport), Mam Sank (Catering), and Almaty Meria (Music).

Each winner received a trophy, a ceremonial scarf, and a certificate of recognition. A special honor was also bestowed upon Adja Abibou Sana Ouédraogo for her lifelong contributions to community development.
The event extended its appreciation to the Forces de défense et de sécurité (FDS) and Volontaires pour la défense de la patrie (VDP) through special awards, acknowledging their vital role in safeguarding peace and social cohesion.
The Commissioner-General of the Mousso d’Or, Mohamado Sanfo, emphasized the event’s core mission: shining a spotlight on women who excel in their fields. « When a woman thrives, an entire family thrives », he remarked, underscoring the ripple effect of female empowerment.

Beyond awards, the Mousso d’Or initiative drives meaningful social impact. This year, 40 widows of fallen FDS soldiers received training and mentorship to build sustainable livelihoods, reinforcing the event’s commitment to uplifting vulnerable women.
Despite logistical and financial hurdles, Sanfo expressed pride in the event’s growth, noting a surge in public engagement this year. « Our challenges are many, but passion fuels our progress. The overwhelming turnout proves how deeply people value women’s advancement », he shared.
Challenges and triumphs: a growing movement for women
« We urge every woman with a dream to pursue it fearlessly. Today, female excellence is not just acknowledged—it’s celebrated »
The fourth edition of the Mousso d’Or distributed a total of sixteen category awards, seven special prizes, and one honorary trophy. Talato Ouédraogo, winner of the Pépite d’Or, echoed the event’s transformative spirit, urging women to break barriers and redefine possibilities.
