On Thursday, July 9, a significant working session convened in Rabat, featuring Hicham Balaoui, the King’s Attorney General at the Court of Cassation and President of the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Morocco, alongside Ousmane Abderamane Djougourou, the Inspector General of Chad’s Independent Anti-Corruption Authority. This pivotal encounter formed part of a working visit specifically designed for the Chadian delegation to gain in-depth knowledge of Morocco’s established experience in combating corruption, covering both its prevention and repression mechanisms.
During the productive discussions, Hicham Balaoui meticulously outlined the core components of Morocco’s comprehensive anti-corruption framework. He particularly emphasized the robust legal and institutional structures that have been diligently put into place, in addition to the proactive criminal policy vigorously pursued by the Public Prosecutor’s Office in this vital area. The exchange of ideas also extended to exploring comparative best practices from various international contexts in the ongoing global fight against corruption.
The Chadian delegation acquired valuable insights into several innovative initiatives spearheaded by the Public Prosecutor’s Office. These included the successful implementation of a dedicated direct telephone line, specifically designed for citizens to report incidents of corruption and illicit enrichment. Furthermore, the delegation thoroughly examined the “e-TABLIGH” digital platform, a cutting-edge tool empowering the public to securely denounce various suspected acts of corruption. This advanced system leverages state-of-the-art digital technologies to ensure the confidential and efficient processing of all submitted reports.
