ID4Africa 2026: Abidjan to host Africa’s digital identity leaders in may

Abidjan is set to host the 7th annual ID4Africa General Assembly from May 12 to 15, 2026, at the Parc des Expositions de Port-Bouët. The conference will focus on the theme “Digital Identity: From Public Digital Infrastructure to Public Digital Ecosystems”.

The event brings together key players shaping Africa’s digital identity landscape, including public decision-makers, technical experts, private sector representatives, and international institution officials.

The official opening ceremony took place on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, under the leadership of Côte d’Ivoire’s Vice President, Tiémoko Meyliet Koné.

Over the course of four days, discussions will explore critical aspects such as secure population identification, access to digital public services, data protection, and the development of inclusive digital ecosystems.

The conference aims to shift the conversation beyond technical infrastructure alone, emphasizing the need for holistic systems that integrate human, legal, institutional, and sectoral dimensions.

Established in 2014, ID4Africa has been supporting African nations in building robust and responsible digital identity ecosystems to drive development, digital transformation, and humanitarian efforts.

By hosting this event, Côte d’Ivoire reinforces its commitment to Africa’s digital transformation agenda while highlighting the vital role of reliable digital identity in ensuring citizens’ access to essential services.
