Today, the Supreme Court in N’Djamena is operating under exceptionally stringent security measures. Elements of the national defense and security forces, including the National Guard, gendarmerie, and police, have been deployed to secure the premises.
Entry to the Supreme Court compound is rigorously controlled, with strict filtering protocols in place. Consequently, numerous journalists and cameramen found themselves barred from entering the courtroom to cover the proceedings.
The public hearing is taking place within a small, secluded chamber of the Supreme Court, intentionally kept away from general public access. This critical session pits the President of the Supreme Court against the dedicated legal team, comprising approximately ten lawyers, representing Dr. Succès Masra, the prominent leader of the Les Transformateurs party.
This particular session focuses on the appeal in cassation filed against the ruling issued by the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeal on August 9, 2025. That previous judgment had notably sentenced Dr. Succès Masra to a severe 20-year prison term.
