The French Embassy in Morocco recently hosted a grand reception in Rabat on July 14th to mark France’s National Day. More than 1,500 guests gathered as Ambassador Philippe Lalliot highlighted the deepening bilateral partnership between the two nations.
“From Rabat to Casablanca, Tangier, Marrakech, and Laâyoune—where I recently inaugurated the city’s first Alliance Française—our collaboration isn’t just about planning for the future; it’s about building it, step by step,” the ambassador stated, joined by Mohamed Saad Berrada, Morocco’s Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, representing the government.
Emphasizing the breadth of cooperation, Lalliot pointed to France’s unwavering support for Morocco’s position on the Sahara issue, as outlined in President Emmanuel Macron’s July 2024 letter to King Mohammed VI. “French and Moroccan diplomacy stand united in upholding the core principles that underpin international order and multilateral organizations,” he affirmed.
The ambassador also underscored France’s long-standing economic role in Morocco, noting that “France remains Morocco’s top foreign investor and employer, with French enterprises playing a pivotal role in the country’s industrial growth for over a decade.” Looking ahead, he framed the partnership around three key priorities: tackling global challenges together, strengthening mutual economic influence in emerging sectors, and fostering deeper societal ties—especially among the youth, who represent the future of Franco-Moroccan relations.
Lalliot concluded by celebrating the “enduring human connections” between the peoples of France and Morocco, a bond further strengthened by the dynamism of their diaspora communities.
