Diplomatic celebration: France and Morocco strengthen ties

The French Embassy in Morocco hosted a grand celebration on July 14, 2026, at the French Residence to mark Bastille Day, bringing together more than 1,500 distinguished guests.

The event was inaugurated by the French Ambassador to Morocco, Philippe Lalliot, and his wife, Laurence Folliot Lalliot, who warmly welcomed attendees.

In his address, Ambassador Lalliot underscored the revitalized and forward-looking nature of the France-Morocco partnership: “A balanced alliance that serves both nations’ interests, modernized to address today’s challenges and prepare for tomorrow’s. In short, a refounded partnership designed to meet the demands of the present and the opportunities of the future.”

He further highlighted the human dimension of this enduring bond, stating: “This friendship is an inheritance we all share. It is our duty to nurture it, strengthen it, and ensure it flourishes.”

Reflecting on his mission in Morocco, he praised the Kingdom’s proactive vision for the future: “Whether in Rabat, Casablanca, Tangier, Marrakech, or Laayoune—where I recently inaugurated the first Alliance Française in the city—Morocco doesn’t just envision the future; it builds it, day by day.”
