The Ministry of Trade and Industry has issued an urgent directive to halt the distribution of four locally produced yogurt brands after rigorous inspections exposed severe health violations.
In a formal statement released today, Minister Dr Guibolo Fanga Mathieu confirmed that the Centre de contrôle de qualité des denrées alimentaires conducted unannounced quality checks across N’Djamena’s dairy production facilities from June 1 to 5. The assessments uncovered alarming deficiencies in microbiological safety, chemical composition, and overall hygiene standards.
Immediate market withdrawal ordered
Four dairy manufacturers—Tami Yaourt, Alkhiza Yaourt, Lazza Yaourt, and Yaourt Gamar—have been instructed to recall all affected yogurt batches from shelves nationwide. Distribution has been suspended until further notice while the companies address compliance gaps highlighted by regulators.
Regulatory crackdown intensifies
Government officials emphasize that this action marks the beginning of a broader campaign targeting food producers failing to meet national safety protocols. Additional inspections are scheduled for other food processing plants across Chad, with authorities urging consumers to scrutinize product labels before purchase.
The Ministry has directed the implicated companies to implement corrective measures and submit compliance reports to restore their operations. Public health remains the top priority as authorities continue enforcing strict food safety enforcement nationwide.
