APR official challenges Ousmane Sonko to present evidence in court
In a sharp public statement, Maimouna Sène, a key figure in the Alliance Pour la République (APR), has called on Senegal’s Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko to back up his claims with concrete legal action if he possesses any evidence of wrongdoing. Her remarks underscore growing frustration within political circles over the handling of governance and accountability in the country.
Sène, who serves on the party’s national executive committee, criticized what she described as the misuse of judicial processes for political maneuvering rather than genuine accountability. She emphasized that institutional transparency must remain separate from partisan agendas, urging Sonko to channel any allegations through proper legal channels instead of public declarations.
Demands for stronger economic focus
The APR representative also highlighted the urgent need for the government to prioritize pressing economic and social challenges facing Senegalese citizens. Inflation control, job creation, and economic recovery were cited as critical areas requiring immediate attention rather than political distractions.
« If you have evidence, take it to the courts and let justice proceed without interference, » Sène stated, directly addressing the Prime Minister. Her call reflects broader concerns about the politicization of governance and the need for leaders to demonstrate tangible results over rhetoric.
She concluded by urging Sonko to shift from mere political posturing to actionable leadership, stressing the importance of integrity in public service. The statement comes at a time when public trust in leadership is increasingly scrutinized across the nation.
