Lens hosts Paris Saint-Germain this Wednesday at 21:00 in a rescheduled Ligue 1 showdown that could crown the capital club champions for the 14th time. Yet the high-stakes clash won’t air on Ligue 1+, leaving many fans searching for alternatives.
With just six points separating PSG from the title, Luis Enrique’s side arrives in Lens with one objective: secure the championship before their Champions League final against Arsenal on 30 May. The stakes couldn’t be higher, yet the match remains off the Ligue 1+ schedule.
Why the broadcast landed on beIN Sports instead
The fixture was originally penciled in for Saturday, 11 April at 17:15—prime time for Qatar-based beIN Sports, which holds the primary broadcast rights for Ligue 1 this season. However, PSG requested a postponement due to a congested schedule: three matches in under a week, including two away games, culminating in Champions League quarter-finals against Liverpool on 8 and 14 April.
While RC Lens opposed the move, the French Football League (LFP) sided with PSG, shifting the game to 13 May. Despite the rescheduling, beIN Sports retained the rights, leaving Ligue 1+ subscribers without the marquee fixture.
Title fate hangs in the balance
If PSG triumph in Lens, they’ll claim the championship this week. Otherwise, they’ll have to wait until the final matchday against Paris FC, while Lens faces Lyon. With a six-point cushion, however, the suspense is nearly over—unless an upset shakes the standings.
