A significant leadership change has occurred at the Compagnie Énergie Électrique du Togo (CEET), the national electricity company. Débo-K’mba Barandao, who served as the Director General, has been removed from his position.
Official communication detailing the specific reasons behind this decision has not yet been released. Nevertheless, this departure takes place amidst ongoing challenges faced by CEET regarding the reliability of electricity supply and the overall quality of service provided across the national grid.
Mr. Barandao, appointed in March 2022, was entrusted with implementing a series of reforms within the public utility, focusing on both organizational and operational improvements. His tenure leading the institution was notably marked by various restructuring projects.
CEET, a crucial player within Togo’s energy sector, has grappled with recurrent difficulties for an extended period. These issues primarily include frequent power outages and the imperative need to modernize its infrastructure.
Authorities have not yet announced who will succeed Mr. Barandao. A new appointment is expected in the coming days to ensure the continuity of essential services.
