PASTEF leader blasts government trajectory in Sadio
In a fiery address delivered this Sunday in Sadio, Diourbel region, Ousmane Sonko, leader of PASTEF-Les Patriotes, unleashed sharp criticism against the current administration’s direction. Speaking to a packed crowd of supporters, he revisited the events that led to Bassirou Diomaye Faye’s March 2024 presidential victory—an election Sonko had initially contested after his own candidacy was disqualified.
« We propelled him to the highest office, yet he has systematically strayed from the movement’s core vision, betraying the hopes of a nation that believed in change, » Sonko declared, underscoring what he described as a « vanished hope. »
The former Prime Minister went further, arguing that the political project once presented to Senegalese voters has drifted dangerously off course. He called for an urgent return to the commitments made before the electorate, stressing that a realignment with the original agenda is long overdue.
Sonko also emphasized his pivotal role in the 2024 political shift, asserting that the momentum behind the historic turnover was largely driven by his leadership. Looking ahead, he framed the 2026 and 2029 electoral cycles as critical milestones for reviving and fully implementing PASTEF’s political manifesto.
His remarks come amid ongoing public speculation about the relationship between President Faye and the Prime Minister, though no official statement from the presidency has been issued in response.
