Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko has initiated stringent regulations concerning international travel for both General Directors and ministers. These fresh directives aim to tighten control over administrative movements, which the head of government has deemed excessive.

Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko recently unveiled a series of new protocols designed to more effectively manage overseas trips undertaken by senior public administration officials and executives from state-owned enterprises.
According to the Prime Minister, these revised guidelines apply to both ministerial positions and General Directors. “I almost automatically block travel requests from ministers,” the government leader stated. “However, the movements of General Directors are beyond my direct oversight; they frequently report to their respective supervisory bodies.”
Furthermore, Prime Minister Sonko disclosed that he had requested a comprehensive report detailing travel activities over the preceding months. “I recently asked for a report covering the last three months, and I was greatly surprised to discover that within a 90-day period, some General Directors had spent 30, 20, or even 15 days outside the country,” he revealed. Concluding his remarks, Ousmane Sonko announced an upcoming overhaul of the foreign mission approval system. “This will be rectified, and from now on, they will seek my approval for their international travel,” he affirmed.
