Sénégal three released can supporters welcomed back in Dakar

Three Senegalese supporters freed after CAN incidents land in Dakar

The first group of Senegalese football fans detained in Morocco following disturbances at the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) has touched down in Dakar. Abdoulaye Dieng, Ibrahima Diop, and Aziz Wade arrived at Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD) in Diass at 6:25 PM aboard a Royal Air Maroc flight, greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

These three individuals were among 18 Senegalese supporters arrested after the final match against Morocco in Rabat. Their charges included public disorder, projectile throwing, damage to sports facilities, and assaulting law enforcement. A court in Rabat sentenced them to three months in prison, which they have now served.

The remaining 15 supporters still in Morocco face sentences ranging from six months to one year, depending on their individual cases. Their repatriation to Senegal will occur as each completes their respective prison terms.
