psg record sales: gonçalo ramos’ transfer among the club’s biggest exits

Paris Saint-Germain is finalizing one of the most significant departures in club history. An agreement has been reached with AC Milan over Gonçalo Ramos for around €60 million, placing his transfer as the club’s second-largest sale ever. The Portuguese striker, who arrived at the Parc des Princes in 2023 for €65 million after a one-year loan costing €20 million, leaves Paris with his investment only partially justified by his performances.

Only one transfer surpasses Ramos’ deal in PSG’s financial ledger. Neymar’s move to Al-Hilal in 2023 for €90 million remains the benchmark, despite the Brazilian’s brief and underwhelming stint in Saudi Arabia. His time there concluded with just seven appearances, a single goal, and three assists.

Breaking the €50m ceiling

Until now, no PSG player had been sold for more than €50 million. Manuel Ugarte’s transfer to Manchester United in 2024 for €50 million marked the first time the club crossed that threshold, just a year after his €60 million arrival from Sporting CP. Despite a respectable first season with the Red Devils (45 matches, two goals, six assists), the Uruguayan midfielder has struggled to secure a permanent role.

Xavi Simons’ exit also bolstered PSG’s finances through an advantageous deal. The club recouped between €50 million and €80 million when the Dutch midfielder joined RB Leipzig in winter 2025, before he moved to Tottenham Hotspur, where he has become a key figure in their survival efforts.

Marco Verratti and Gonçalo Guedes follow

Next on the list are Marco Verratti, sold to Al-Arabi for €45 million in 2023, and Gonçalo Guedes, transferred to Valencia for €40 million. Behind them are David Luiz, who returned to Chelsea for €35 million in 2016, and an outlier from PSG’s pre-QSI era: Ronaldinho, whose €30 million move to Barcelona stands as the sole pre-2011 transfer in the top 20.

What’s next for PSG’s transfer business?

While Gonçalo Ramos’ departure awaits official confirmation, another high-profile case could soon gain momentum. South Korean international Lee Kang-in, under contract until 2028, remains a sought-after talent, with Atlético Madrid closely monitoring his situation after weeks of scouting.
