Significant arrests were made in Paris after the Parisian club’s Champions League victory. Tensions also flared in Bordeaux and Agen.
Anticipating either a win or a loss for Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final on Saturday, May 30 evening, law enforcement agencies had implemented an extraordinary security apparatus. A total of 22,000 police and gendarmes were deployed across the nation, with 8,000 solely dedicated to Paris and its surrounding metropolitan area. Even before the match concluded, during the afternoon, initial clashes had already broken out between security forces and some individuals identified as supporters near the Parc des Princes, where nearly 20,000 people had gathered to watch the game broadcast. These early disturbances resulted in 20 arrests.
