Ousmane Sonko, currently at the helm of the National Assembly, is systematically building his staff. In a significant announcement made this Wednesday, he officially appointed Maïmouna Dièye, who previously served as the Minister of Family, Social Action, and Solidarity, to the influential position of special technical advisor within his presidential cabinet.

According to the directive issued by the parliamentary institution’s president, Maïmouna Dièye’s responsibilities will encompass critical domains such as Social Action, Family welfare initiatives, the vigorous Promotion of Women’s Rights, Child Protection strategies, and comprehensive support for vulnerable demographics, specifically including individuals living with disabilities. This appointment marks her formal integration into the President of the National Assembly’s inner circle. In her initial public comments following the designation, the former minister conveyed her deep appreciation while underscoring the substantial implications of her new role.

“I interpret this appointment as a clear indication of trust, yet, more significantly, as an urgent summons to serve,” she declared.
