Nice handed two closed-doors matches following Allianz Riviera chaos
OGC Nice faces two complete stadium closures and a suspended game as disciplinary body cracks down on post-match disturbances against Metz
The Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) disciplinary committee has handed Nice a harsh penalty: two full stadium closures and one suspended match following pyrotechnic use, pitch invasion, and damage to Allianz Riviera after the final whistle of their Ligue 1 clash with Metz on the season’s final matchday.
This means the club will play their crucial promotion playoff return leg against AS Saint-Étienne on May 29 without spectators. Nice has already lodged an appeal to contest the decision, hoping to welcome fans for this decisive encounter. Their away leg at Geoffroy-Guichard on May 26 will already be played behind closed doors due to the suspension of striker Elye Wahi.
Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain received a separate ruling: the closure of their Parc des Princes’ Auteuil stand for the opening Ligue 1 match of the 2026-2027 season, following confirmed pyrotechnic use and visual displays.
Nantes’ disciplinary case, concerning their pitch invasion during the early stages of their match against Toulouse, has been deferred for later judgment.
