The Dakar Tribunal of First Instance has postponed the judgment in the case of falsifying the signature of former Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, which involves Khardiata Tandian.
Initially scheduled for July 9, 2026, the hearing was rescheduled due to Cherif Zeyni Abidin Sy’s absence, who is presumed to be her accomplice according to Les Échos.
The court also rejected Khardiata Tandian’s request for provisional release, citing that she had been in detention for over a year and had taken care of her family. Her defense argued that the sentence could already cover this time in prison and that prolonging her imprisonment would severely affect her social situation.
The prosecutor opposed the release, arguing that Khardiata Tandian’s appearance would disrupt public order and that she lacked sufficient guarantees to represent herself in court.
Despite the defense’s claim that there was no risk of pressure on witnesses since the defendant had already been questioned at the bar, the court sided with the prosecution. As a result, Khardiata Tandian remains detained until the case is resolved.
