The Foreign Affairs Minister of Côte d’Ivoire, Kacou Adom, reiterated his country’s unwavering commitment to Morocco’s royal initiatives for African development during a high-level meeting in Rabat on Thursday.
«Côte d’Ivoire fully supports these initiatives and will continue working hand in hand with Morocco to ensure their successful implementation in line with His Majesty’s vision,» Kacou Adom declared following his discussions with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita.
The Ivorian diplomat also highlighted the dynamic nature of Moroccan-Ivorian cooperation, particularly in the private sector. «Moroccan enterprises are playing a pivotal role in Côte d’Ivoire’s economic growth, contributing significantly to the country’s infrastructural and developmental progress,» he noted.
Both delegations agreed to reconvene soon to assess the progress of the Economic Impetus Group, aiming to enhance its effectiveness and expand its impact across the region.
Echoing these sentiments, Morocco’s Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita expressed deep appreciation for Côte d’Ivoire’s consistent stance on the Sahara issue. «Côte d’Ivoire has been a steadfast ally of Morocco on this critical matter, a position that has earned immense respect from His Majesty the King and the Moroccan people,» he stated.
He further emphasized Côte d’Ivoire’s role as a key bilateral partner for Morocco, not only in Africa but globally. «Your nation stands as a benchmark in regional partnerships, actively supporting major royal initiatives such as the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline to Europe—a project of paramount importance to His Majesty,» Bourita added.
He revealed that the project has reached a critical phase, with West African leaders, including those from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), formally endorsing the intergovernmental agreement that will pave the way for its execution.
This meeting in Rabat underscores the robust political, economic, and regional ties between Côte d’Ivoire and Morocco. From their shared support for the Moroccan Sahara to their collaborative efforts in continental projects, the partnership between the two nations continues to grow stronger, reinforcing Côte d’Ivoire’s position as one of Morocco’s most trusted partners in Africa.
