Football Ligue 1 : après les incidents face à Toulouse, le FC Nantes écope d’un match à huis clos
Following the disruptive events that forced the premature end of the match between Nantes and Toulouse on Ligue 1’s 24th and final day, FC Nantes has been handed a one-match closed-door penalty for the upcoming season.
The anticipated disciplinary action against FC Nantes has now been confirmed. After a pitch invasion by ultra supporters on May 17, at the outset of the ‘Canaris’ clash against Toulouse, the LFP Disciplinary Commission convened this Wednesday. The fans’ actions, reportedly fueled by the club’s impending relegation to Ligue 2, led to the decision to impose a strict one-match closed-door sanction on FC Nantes.
No point deduction for FC Nantes
The league’s governing body also officially ratified the 0-0 scoreline that stood at the time the fixture was halted.
In addition to the stadium-wide closed-door mandate, the Tribune Loire, identified as the origin point of the disturbances, will remain inaccessible for an additional two matches.
However, the outcome could have been significantly harsher for the ‘Canaris,’ who faced the potential of a points deduction for their upcoming Ligue 2 campaign. Fortunately for the club, this more severe penalty was ultimately not applied.
