Chad’s renewed resolve against Boko Haram in the Lake Chad province

Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno publicly stated on May 5th via Facebook, affirming: « Our commitment to this battle will be sustained with fresh resolve, aiming for the complete eradication of this menace ». His pronouncement came in the wake of a devastating attack launched just one day earlier by a faction linked to the armed Islamist group Boko Haram. The target was the Barka Tolorom military outpost, positioned on the Chadian shoreline of Lake Chad, where 24 soldiers tragically lost their lives.
