N’Djamena, June 4, 2026 – The Groupement des Écoles Militaires Interarmées (GEMIA) hosted a landmark ceremony today, marking the induction of its sixth batch of Enfants de Troupe alongside the recognition of top-performing cadets. The event drew a distinguished audience including General of Division Hisseine Abderamane Haggar, the second chief of staff of the armed forces Yangmmargue Beh Félix, defense attachés from allied nations, the mayor of N’Djamena, and leaders from the first arrondissement.

Parents of current cadets and alumni gathered alongside high-ranking military officials to witness the transformation of 76 young recruits who entered training last October. Through rigorous bahutage—a demanding initiation phase—these cadets forged bonds of brotherhood, camaraderie, and resilience far from home. Addressing the crowd, the GEMIA commander declared, “Today, they shed their ‘Blue’ status to stand proudly as full-fledged Enfants de Troupe.”

The ceremony underscored the institution’s commitment to the vision of President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, who has consistently emphasized that “the future of Chad is built in its schools.” This philosophy is embodied in the school’s guiding principle: “Learn to build better,” anchored in values of honor, discipline, and excellence.

Top performers were celebrated with awards for academic excellence, leadership, and athletic achievement. The commander praised the winners and urged them to continue their upward trajectory. He also called on partners and the Association of Former Child Soldiers to help elevate the institution to national prominence.

The event concluded with warm wishes for a productive break for all staff and cadets, along with gratitude to parents for their vital role in shaping the nation’s future leaders.
