Cameroon’s Union démocratique du Cameroun condemns alleged torture of political activist
The Union démocratique du Cameroun (UDC) has expressed deep concern over reports that activist Jacques Bertrand Mang was subjected to torture and inhumane treatment. Through its president, Patricia Tomaino Ndam Njoya, the party vehemently condemns such acts, which violate the Cameroonian Constitution.
‘’Should these allegations be confirmed, they would represent a severe breach of fundamental rights and the principles of the rule of law,’’ the UDC stated. The party emphasized that no form of civic engagement or disagreement justifies torture, violence, or cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment. It urged authorities to fully investigate the incident to safeguard Jacques Bertrand Mang’s physical and moral integrity and ensure his rights are fully protected.
