On Monday, Algeria’s Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb embarked on an official visit to N’Djamena, the capital of Chad, at the express request of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. The visit underscores a renewed commitment to deepen fraternal bonds and strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
High-level delegation accompanies the Prime Minister
The Prime Minister traveled with a distinguished delegation, including:
- Mohamed Arkab, Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons
- Mourad Adjal, Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies
- Abed Hallouz, Director General of the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation in Solidarity and Development
- Senior executives from national companies in the hydrocarbons, energy, and electricity sectors
Upon arrival at N’Djamena International Airport, Prime Minister Ghrieb was greeted by Chad’s Prime Minister and Head of Government, Allamaye Halina, alongside other key government officials and high-ranking representatives.
Bilateral talks focus on expanding cooperation
Following the welcome ceremony, the Algerian Prime Minister and his Chadian counterpart held bilateral talks to review the progress of Algeria-Chad relations. They discussed strategies to enhance existing cooperation and explore new avenues for collaboration, reflecting a shared vision to elevate the partnership to higher levels in service of both nations’ interests.
Groundbreaking ceremony for a 40 MW solidarity power plant
During the visit, Prime Minister Ghrieb, accompanied by Chad’s Prime Minister, participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for a new 40-megawatt solidarity power plant in the Farcha industrial zone of N’Djamena. This project, funded by Algeria as a gift to Chad, will be executed by Sonelgaz International.
The initiative aligns with President Tebboune’s directives to support sustainable development in African brother nations and reaffirms Algeria’s dedication to fostering African solidarity through impactful, transformative projects.
Strategic discussions with Chad’s President
The Algerian Prime Minister also held consultations with Chad’s President, Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, to explore ways to reinforce the Algeria-Chad partnership. Key topics included strengthening economic ties, development cooperation, and addressing regional and continental issues of mutual interest.
