Algeria and Chad formalized an agreement in N’Djamena on Thursday, designed to streamline the implementation of various cooperative initiatives in public works and vital infrastructure development.
This latest accord underscores a commitment to fortify the partnership between Algeria and Chad, aiming to swiftly advance the resolutions established in agreements reached last April. The Algerian Ministry of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure confirmed the details.
Studies commence for the Trans-Saharan Road project across Chadian territory
The signing ceremony saw Abdelkader Djellaoui, Algeria’s Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, and Amir Idriss Kourda, Chad’s Minister of Infrastructure, Disenclavement, and Road Maintenance, affix their signatures. This pivotal event occurred during a coordination meeting in N’Djamena, marking the second day of an Algerian delegation’s working visit to Chad. High-level attendees included the Director General of the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation for Solidarity and Development, Algeria’s Ambassador to Chad, and senior officials from the Cosider group and the National Public Works Company (SNTP).
Representing the Chadian side were the Minister Delegate for Infrastructure and several senior executives. During the discussions, the Chadian minister emphasized the « rapid dynamic » observed in the execution of bilateral agreements. He commended the tangible progress achieved since the initial accords were signed on April 22nd in Algiers, highlighting specific advancements such as mutual technical visits and the initiation of feasibility studies for the Trans-Saharan Road project, which will traverse Chadian territory.
