N’Djamena – World Vision Tchad has officially unveiled its national strategy for 2026-2030, marking a significant step forward in its mission to transform the lives of children across the country. During a press conference held on July 9, 2026, the organization outlined ambitious plans to impact 3.29 million children by 2030, with a special focus on 3.09 million of the most vulnerable young lives. The strategy integrates humanitarian aid, sustainable development, and peacebuilding to address the multifaceted challenges facing Chad’s youth.
An integrated approach to tackle critical challenges
The strategy is built on the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus, a framework designed to bridge emergency relief with long-term growth and stability. Carla Dominique Denizard, West Africa Regional Director for World Vision, described the initiative as « bold and innovative, » emphasizing its potential to create lasting change. « Every child in Chad deserves not just survival, but the opportunity to thrive, » she stated, highlighting the need for strong partnerships, community engagement, and cultural sensitivity in implementation.
The approach aligns with continental and global development goals, including the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, and 16). Key priorities include strengthening nutrition and maternal and child health, expanding access to quality education through initiatives like Unlock Literacy, and enhancing child protection against violence and exploitation. Climate resilience is also a cornerstone, addressing the growing threats posed by environmental changes.
A renewed commitment to Chad’s future
Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, National Director of World Vision Tchad, called the strategy’s launch a « historic moment » for the organization and the children of Chad. « This plan represents a 20% increase in our ambitions compared to previous cycles, » he noted. « Our goal is clear: ensure that every child in Chad not only survives but thrives by 2030. » He underscored the urgency of the initiative, citing persistent poverty, malnutrition, and climate-related crises that disproportionately affect vulnerable populations. With nearly 42% of Chad’s population living below the poverty line, targeted interventions are critical.
The strategy’s key pillars include:
- Nutrition and health: Integrated programs to combat malnutrition, particularly among mothers and young children.
- Education: Scaling up Unlock Literacy to improve early reading skills and educational outcomes.
- Child protection: Strengthening systems to prevent violence, exploitation, and abuse.
- Climate resilience: Empowering communities to adapt to environmental changes and reduce vulnerability.
Call for collective action
World Vision Tchad concluded the event with a call for collaboration among all stakeholders. Public authorities, technical and financial partners, civil society groups, religious and community leaders, and media outlets were urged to join forces in supporting the strategy’s implementation. « Collective mobilization is essential to turn today’s challenges into sustainable opportunities for Chad’s children, » the organization emphasized. By aligning with the country’s Vision 2030 and global development targets, World Vision aims to build a future where every child in Chad is protected, nourished, educated, and empowered to reach their full potential.
