World vision Chad unveils bold 2030 strategy for children’s future

World Vision Tchad has unveiled its ambitious 2026-2030 national strategy during a high-profile press conference in N’Djamena, marking a significant step toward transforming the lives of nearly 3.3 million children across the country. The initiative, designed to address the most pressing needs of vulnerable youth, integrates humanitarian aid, sustainable development, and peacebuilding into a unified framework.

a comprehensive roadmap for child welfare

The strategy, developed in collaboration with government officials, development partners, and community leaders, sets clear targets: improving access to healthcare, nutrition, education, and child protection while strengthening community resilience against climate-related challenges. The goal is to reach 3.29 million children by 2030, including 3.09 million from the most at-risk groups.

key pillars of the initiative

The 2026-2030 plan revolves around five core priorities:

  • Health and nutrition: Expanding integrated maternal and child health programs, with a focus on combating malnutrition, which affects nearly half of the country’s population.
  • Education: Implementing the Unlock Literacy program to enhance early reading skills and ensure more children complete their education.
  • Child protection: Strengthening systems to safeguard children from violence, exploitation, and abuse.
  • Climate resilience: Supporting communities in adapting to environmental changes, including droughts and desertification.
  • Social cohesion: Promoting peacebuilding efforts to reduce conflicts that displace families and disrupt children’s lives.

aligning with global and continental goals

The strategy is designed to align with Chad’s Vision 2030, the African Union’s Agenda 2063, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including targets for poverty reduction, gender equality, clean water, and climate action. By adopting a humanitarian-development-peace nexus approach, World Vision Tchad aims to bridge emergency relief with long-term sustainable progress.

a call for collective action

During the launch event, organizers emphasized the need for a united front among government agencies, NGOs, faith leaders, and media outlets to ensure the strategy’s success. « No single organization can tackle these challenges alone,» noted a senior representative. We need coordinated efforts to turn today’s struggles into tomorrow’s opportunities for every child in Chad.»

The strategy’s launch comes at a critical time, as Chad faces persistent poverty, recurring humanitarian crises, and the growing impacts of climate change. With nearly 42% of its population living below the poverty line, the organization’s expanded mission reflects a bold commitment to breaking cycles of deprivation and fostering an environment where children can thrive.
