Togo recognises academic excellence with 107 new full professors

The long-awaited resolution has arrived. Following weeks of protest on the campus of Lomé, the government has formally announced in a cabinet meeting the promotion of 107 associate professors from public universities to the rank of Full Professors.

Addressing faculty concerns with decisive action

The decision comes after a wave of mobilisation by teaching staff on 2 July at the University of Lomé. By elevating these scholars to the highest academic tier, authorities aim to acknowledge outstanding scientific contributions and dedication to pedagogy at the country’s two leading institutions: the University of Lomé and the University of Kara.
