A significant stride in modernizing Togo’s judicial framework has been achieved. During a Council of Ministers meeting held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, in Lomé, the executive branch ratified two draft decrees confirming the appointment of 28 fresh magistrates, all graduates from the Centre for the Training of Justice Professions (CFPJ).
This strategic reinforcement of Togo’s legal personnel comprises two cohorts of auditors who successfully completed their rigorous training programs:
23 justice auditors have been integrated into the civilian magistracy.
5 members of the defense and security forces have been assigned to the military magistracy.
These appointments received official endorsement following a favorable opinion from the Higher Council of Magistracy (CSM), aligning with current legal provisions. This consecrates the definitive integration of the individuals concerned, empowering them to assume their new roles immediately.

According to the government’s official statement, this pivotal decision is central to the national agenda for purifying and modernizing the justice sector.
The executive emphasized that the arrival of these 28 new legal professionals will “fortify staffing across the nation’s various jurisdictions, elevate the daily operations of public justice services, and ensure citizens benefit from improved access to high-quality justice.”
