Diplomatic engagements took center stage on Friday in Cotonou as the head of state welcomed thirteen new diplomatic representatives. Each envoy, tasked with fulfilling their missions in the Republic of Bénin, formally submitted their letters of credence. These official documents serve as their countries’ accreditation to the Béninese president.

This crucial protocol signifies the host nation’s formal recognition of each ambassador, empowering them to fully undertake their roles in representation, fostering dialogue, and strengthening cooperation with Béninese officials.

These diplomats represent a diverse group of thirteen nations: Mauritania, Thailand, Pakistan, Nigeria, Ghana, Vietnam, India, the United Kingdom, Cuba, Algeria, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Chad.

One by one, President Romuald Wadagni received these ambassadors as they formally presented the official documents from their respective states. This ceremony is a standard procedure in the bilateral relations between Bénin and its international partners.
