The Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Professional Training recently hosted a pivotal national workshop in N’Djamena to validate a groundbreaking diagnostic report. This report lays the foundation for the future National Strategy for Digital Transformation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the country.
The event brought together key stakeholders from the education sector to review, enhance, and officially approve a comprehensive analysis of the current state of digital readiness across the nation’s technical and vocational training centers. This initiative is part of a broader pan-African effort supported by leading organizations including UNESCO, OIF, the African Union, the African Development Bank, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, and the GIZ-SIFA program. Its goal is to drive a sustainable modernization of Chad’s TVET systems.
The preliminary study engaged over 200 participants from 57 Technical and Vocational Training Centers (CFTP) and related structures. Through extensive field missions and digital data collection, the assessment covered all academic regions of the country, providing a detailed snapshot of infrastructure, connectivity, and training needs.
Dr. Djininboh Gabriel, Director General of Human Resources, Statistics and Digitalization, opened the session on behalf of the Secretary of State for Higher Education. He emphasized the strategic importance of digital transformation in aligning TVET systems with rapid technological change and evolving job market demands. “Digitalization is no longer an option—it is a necessity to ensure our workforce remains competitive and our training systems remain relevant,” he stated.
The validated report highlights both progress and critical gaps in governance, digital infrastructure, energy supply, teacher training, and the integration of digital skills into curricula. It calls for a realistic, inclusive strategy that responds to Chad’s unique challenges while positioning the country at the forefront of vocational education innovation in the region.
With the report now endorsed, it will serve as the blueprint for developing the National Digital Transformation Strategy for TVET and its operational action plan for 2026–2030. The ultimate vision is to build a modern, high-performing technical education system that meets labor market needs and supports sustainable economic growth in Chad.
