Succès Masra’s trial commences at Chad’s Supreme Court amid heightened security

The highly anticipated trial of Succès Masra is now underway at the Supreme Court in Chad, unfolding under tight security protocols and notably in his absence. Journalists were asked to vacate the premises as legal proceedings began with his defense team.

Tchad : début du procès de Succès Masra à la Cour suprême

The legal proceedings for Succès Masra have officially commenced within a small chamber of the Supreme Court in Chad. Notably, Masra himself was not present for the opening. An extensive security apparatus, comprising officers from the police force, gendarmerie, and nomadic guards, was strategically deployed. These forces secured both the main roundabout and the principal routes leading to the Supreme Court building, reflecting the high-stakes nature of the event.

Both local and international journalists who arrived to cover the trial were instructed to vacate the premises. Even the head of the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) was denied entry by the chief of the nomadic guards. Despite Succès Masra’s physical absence, the initial confrontation between the Supreme Court president and several members of Masra’s legal counsel has successfully begun, with his defense team representing the president of the Transformateurs party.
