Strategic partnership between Niger’s ccr and iom prioritizes national sovereignty

Dr. Mamoudou Harouna Djingarey and IOM mission align visions for Niger’s sovereignty and development.

Niamey, July 29, 2026 — Against the backdrop of strategic alignment and restored dignity, high-level diplomatic discussions unfolded in the halls of the Conseil Consultatif de la Refondation. The visiting delegation from the International Organization for Migration was accorded the highest honors by the Council’s President during their official engagement in the capital.

A distinguished assembly of Nigerien leaders, including prominent academics and experts leading commissions on sustainable development and justice, joined the talks. The discussions centered on reshaping the regional migration landscape through a renewed national perspective.

« No external assistance should deviate from the sovereign guidelines set by the Nigerien people for their own refoundation. »

The meeting transcended traditional protocol-driven dialogue, focusing instead on critical pillars: strengthening national support systems, enhancing reception infrastructure, and leveraging external expertise for domestic benefit.

Participants highlighted two key initiatives—the Grand Gathering of the Diaspora’s Vital Forces and the Resilience Program’s strategic guidelines—as central to future action. The IOM representative formally endorsed Niger’s sovereign decisions, pledging a renewed partnership centered exclusively on the nation’s citizens.

The Conseil Consultatif once again affirmed that the Refondation initiative successfully balances diplomatic openness with unwavering protection of national interests.
