By June 20, 2026, the Dja River bridge project in southern Cameroon has reached a critical milestone with the near completion of the structure’s supporting pillars. Teams from China Harbour Engineering Company Cameroon have intensified efforts to accelerate construction progress.

The project has also seen complementary geotechnical studies finalized while execution studies have reached 60% completion. All 20 piles are now in place, and access road construction has begun on the Bissombo side. This includes reinforcing the culvert walls at PK 0+669, laying substitution material after clearing at PK 0+818 culvert, and crushing 0/250 aggregates.

The bridge spans 90 meters and includes 3 kilometers of access roads. Once completed, the project will enhance connectivity along the Assok to Ngombo axis in the Dja and Lobo departments of the South region. The total estimated cost for the Dja River bridge is 10,530,686,344 FCFA including taxes.

In addition to the main structure, access road improvements are planned for 1,000 meters—500 meters on each side of the bridge—featuring a dual-lane carriageway with a total width of 7 meters and 1.5-meter shoulders with double-layer surface treatment. The project will also include drainage infrastructure: two 2.00 x 1.50 meter culverts, two 2.00 x 2.00 meter culverts, and riverbank access embankments.
