Sonko mourns the passing of serigne abdou bakhi mbacké

Ousmane Sonko, President of the National Assembly, conveyed his heartfelt condolences following the loss of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, the revered Khalife of the Khassim Mbacké family in Guinguinéo, who passed away on July 9, 2026.

In a Facebook post, Sonko expressed deep sorrow and paid tribute to the distinguished religious leader. He extended his sympathies to the deceased’s family, the Khalife Général of the Mouride Brotherhood, and the entire Senegalese people.

« I was deeply moved and saddened to learn of the passing of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, the Khalife of the Khassim Mbacké family in Guinguinéo, » Sonko wrote. He recalled the warm and affectionate interactions they shared during his visits to the town.

« During my visits to Guinguinéo, I had the honor of meeting him on multiple occasions, » Sonko added. « Each encounter was marked by his exceptional hospitality, kindness, and unwavering generosity, leaving a lasting impression on me. »

In this moment of grief, the National Assembly President offered his « most sincere condolences » to the family, the Mouride community, the people of Guinguinéo, and the entire nation of Senegal.

He concluded with a prayer, saying, « May Allah, in His boundless mercy, grant him forgiveness and welcome him into His eternal paradise. »
