The President of the National Assembly, Ousmane Sonko, has conveyed his heartfelt condolences following the passing of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, the spiritual leader of the Khassim Mbacké family in Guinguinéo.
In a heartfelt Facebook post, Sonko expressed his deep sorrow upon learning of the religious guide’s passing on July 9, 2026. He extended his sincere sympathies to the deceased’s family, the general Khalife of the Mouride Brotherhood, and the people of Senegal.
« It is with profound sorrow that I learned of the passing of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, the Khalife of the Khassim Mbacké family in Guinguinéo, » Sonko wrote. « May God grant him His mercy and welcome him into eternal paradise. »
He recalled the warm and affectionate encounters he had with the late spiritual leader during visits to Guinguinéo. « I had the honor of meeting him on multiple occasions, each time receiving his kindness, hospitality, and unparalleled warmth—an experience that left a lasting impression on me, » Sonko shared.
In this « deeply sorrowful moment, » he offered his « most sincere condolences » to the bereaved family, the Mouride community, the people of Guinguinéo, and all Senegalese citizens.
