Guinguinéo, Senegal — The President of the National Assembly, Ousmane Sonko, conveyed his deepest condolences following the passing of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, the spiritual leader of the Khassim Mbacké family in Guinguinéo, on July 9, 2026.
In a heartfelt Facebook post, he honored the late religious figure’s legacy and extended his sympathy to the bereaved family, the Grand Khalif of the Mouride Brotherhood, and the people of Senegal.
« I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, the revered Khalife of the Khassim Mbacké family in Guinguinéo, » Sonko wrote. « His warmth, hospitality, and unwavering kindness left a lasting impression on all who met him. »
The National Assembly leader recalled multiple encounters with the late guide during his visits to Guinguinéo, emphasizing the genuine connections forged with the community.
« In this time of sorrow, I offer my most sincere condolences to the family of the late leader, the Grand Khalif of the Mourides, the religious community of Guinguinéo, and the entire people of Senegal, » he stated.
