In his address, the National Assembly leader highlighted a defining moment in the construction of the Great Mosque of Touba. « A close confidant recently shared that Serigne Touba had requested disciples contribute just 140 francs toward the mosque’s construction. At the time, he was offered external assistance to build the edifice but declined, » he recounted. « The progress Touba has achieved over the decades speaks volumes. Had we embraced Serigne Touba’s approach, we might have avoided the cycle of debt that burdens our nation today, » he added, subtly critiquing public financial management.
