Kiiraay asserts that these substantial funds were diverted for purposes entirely unrelated to the stated objective of the peace initiative in Casamance.

A communiqué issued on August 25, 2026, by the Kiiraay Les Patriotes Républicains detailed their profound concerns regarding the management of special funds specifically designated for peace efforts in the Casamance region. The political group explicitly accuses Ousmane Sonko of spending 3.7 billion FCFA from the “Jamm pour la Paix en Casamance” account over the period spanning 2025 to 2026, without providing, in their assessment, comprehensive or transparent explanations for how the money was ultimately used.

The party further contends that the former Prime Minister attempted to justify a portion of these expenditures by citing the acquisition of vehicles and the extensive refurbishment of the administrative building. Kiiraay maintains that such operations fundamentally fall outside the designated objectives of the fund, which was explicitly established to support critical peace-building efforts in the Casamance region.

For the political formation, this unfolding situation raises critical questions about consistency in the rhetoric surrounding transparency and accountability within public office. “Transparency is not a fixed principle, but rather one of variable geometry,” the party declared, emphasizing that public funds should always be subject to the same rigorous demands for justification, regardless of the high-ranking official responsible.
