The president of the National Assembly, Ousmane Sonko, has reacted to a decision by the Constitutional Council declaring a constitutional reform law passed by lawmakers unconstitutional.

Sonko acknowledged that the ruling « must be accepted by all ».

The National Assembly president stressed that institutions must fulfill their roles to avoid crises.

Sonko reaffirmed the parliament’s commitment to carrying out its duties. « The National Assembly will continue to exercise its mandate », he said.
