The 2026 Morocco-India Economic Forum convened on Monday in Rabat, organized by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (CCISRSK) in collaboration with the Embassy of India in the Kingdom and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
This high-profile event brought together a significant Indian delegation, comprising 21 prominent business leaders from strategic sectors, alongside Moroccan economic stakeholders. The primary objective was to explore avenues for establishing enduring partnerships and fostering mutually beneficial investment opportunities between the two nations.
Strengthening a long-standing partnership
During the forum, Hassan Sakhi, President of the CCISRSK, emphasized that the deep-rooted friendship between Morocco and India has blossomed into a robust, diverse, and continuously expanding economic partnership. In a speech delivered on his behalf, Sakhi highlighted that high-level ministerial initiatives and strategic memoranda of understanding signed between Morocco and India underscore the dynamic nature of their political ties.
He further noted that the presence of an Indian business delegation, representing diverse sectors such as automotive, agriculture, information technology, healthcare, and energy, signals the increasing interest of Indian investors in the Moroccan market. Sakhi pointed out that the vitality of bilateral economic exchanges is evident in their growing volume, reiterating Morocco’s commitment to further enhance this momentum. He stressed India’s role as a pivotal trading partner, recognized for its extensive technological and industrial expertise.
Morocco as a gateway to Africa
Mohan Puri, head of the CII delegation, articulated his belief that both countries possess the capacity to forge a powerful partnership, creating a synergistic bridge between India, Morocco, and the wider African continent. Puri underscored the Kingdom’s substantial potential and considerable capabilities, expressing strong appreciation for the myriad opportunities Morocco presents.
He specifically highlighted promising areas such as renewable energies, green hydrogen, aviation, defense, and digital technologies. Puri affirmed that Morocco offers an ideal platform for businesses from both nations to implement joint projects and advance technological development.
Key outcomes and future collaborations
The forum’s agenda featured an institutional video presentation showcasing the economic strengths and investment prospects within the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region. Attendees also viewed a documentary on Morocco’s business climate and the latest updates to its investment charter.
A significant outcome of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement aims to bolster commercial exchanges, investments, and industrial partnerships specifically between India and the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region. The forum concluded with productive networking sessions and targeted B2B meetings, facilitating direct interactions between the participating delegations.
