Psg strikes early with gonçalo ramos exit, targets folarin balogun as replacement

Paris Saint-Germain has finalized its first summer transfer move, sending Gonçalo Ramos to AC Milan on a permanent deal. The Portuguese striker, who spent three seasons with the Parisians, departs after winning 12 trophies, including back-to-back Champions League titles. His departure leaves a significant void in the attack that the club is now racing to fill.

Surprise candidate emerges for PSG’s striking role

The club is eyeing an unexpected replacement: Folarin Balogun. The 24-year-old American forward, fresh off a standout season with AS Monaco—where he netted 19 goals in 43 appearances—has caught the attention of PSG’s hierarchy. His impressive performances in the World Cup, held on home soil for the USA, only strengthened his case.

PSG sporting director Luis Campos reportedly favors Balogun’s profile. The young striker boasts valuable Ligue 1 experience from his time at Reims and Monaco, making him a seamless fit for the French capital.

AS Monaco’s financial pressures may pave the way

Monaco’s current economic struggles have forced a selling spree, with Balogun among the players placed on the transfer market. Reports suggest the Ligue 1 side is open to letting him go, especially after failing to secure Champions League qualification. Alongside Balogun, Lamine Camara and Maghnes Akliouche are also being considered for moves.

The race for Balogun’s signature isn’t limited to PSG. English Premier League clubs like Tottenham and Chelsea are also in the hunt, adding to the competitive bidding process. For the Parisians, landing him would not only address their striking needs but also potentially strike a double deal with Monaco if Akliouche is included.
