President Bassirou Diomaye Faye officially introduced his new political party, “Kiiraay: les patriotes républicains,” this Saturday afternoon, July 25. The freshly launched movement aims to safeguard the Republic of Sénégal, its core institutions, and the cherished ancestral values passed down through generations. The party’s overarching mission is to rekindle hope across all segments of the Senegalese populace, striving for a unified national vision.

During the event, President Faye underscored the paramount importance of placing the nation above all partisan divisions and personal aspirations. He emphasized that “one may be an adversary on a particular day, but we remain brothers every day,” stressing the need for national cohesion despite political differences.

The afternoon saw President Faye transform into a dynamic political figure, addressing an enthusiastic assembly of supporters and activists. The sheer volume of attendees overwhelmed the main hall of the King Fahd Palace, with many forced to gather under a large tent erected on the hotel’s forecourt to follow the address by the leader of the “Diomaye Président” coalition.

Seizing the moment, the President also subtly critiqued his political rivals, though without naming them directly. He declared that “from now on, no warmonger will be able to disrupt the tranquility of Senegalese citizens or their commitment to serving the Republic.” These remarks were interpreted by some militants present as a pointed message towards Ousmane Sonko, his former political ally and the current president of the National Assembly.
